The bright, citrus-colored 2021 Riesling Erdener Prälat Auslese *** (Golden Capsule) is very clear, deep and finely flinty on the immaculate and elegant nose that combines ripe and almost tropical fruit (and raisin) aromas with subtleness and all the details of weathered slate soils. On the palate, this is a generous, highly finessed and elegant Prälat whose raisin fruit is not just concentrated but detailed and structured by the highly finessed slate acidity that carries this Auslese to a very long and intensely aromatic but always refined and elegant, even weightless but savory, lemon-bitter and mouth-biting finish. This is a greatly balanced beauty and one of the rare but most probably also the finest Ausleses of the 2021 vintage. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2023.
